Hell, I don't know.
He frowns. What do people do when they're all alone in the world? He doesn't have a clue. Something about him still tells him his mother is waiting for him, and he growls.
I'm going to find my mother.

Still, doesn't sound like it's gonna be easy. Though you don't need anyone, help would make it easier.

He rolls over in his bed, looking at the wall, and doesn't answer. They can all go to the Nine for as far as he's concerned. He doesn't want these people or this place. He wants his sword, and he wants his mother to come and get him.

*Aber sighs to himself. Poor kid. Hadn't come to terms with it yet. Let him sleep it off, maybe it'll be better.*
Breakfast is at 8. If you're late, it'll be cold.

In her study, Nyata sits down behind her desk. Raven takes out a few files and sits down behind a separate desk, and begins looking through them.
Are we going to bother with this new one?
Nyata thinks for a second, drumming her fingers on the desk.
“We’ll see. If he proves too troublesome, let him go. If not, keep him around. He might have useful talents. Besides, there’s no telling whose bastard he is, considering the line of work his mother was in. See if you can find who and what the father is. If we can’t find anything, Selcar could always use a new toy.”
Raven nods and makes a few notes, then sets the file aside. She pulls out the next one.
Aber is nearing graduation rapidly. He’ll be ready to go in a few months. He’s probably too strong willed to be inducted into the Inner, but he thinks both of us walk on clouds.
Nyata doesn’t have to think about this one.
“We’ll let him go after graduation. He is talented, and could be held as another of our ‘success stories’”
Another note, another file, another child’s life decided. It goes on that way for another hour, reviewing every child at the orphanage. Finally, Raven sets down the last folder.
I am going to start looking for Widifor’s father, see what I can dig up. If it dead ends, I’ll let you know. Are you coming back to the estate tonight, Mistress?
“No. I have work to do.”
That being said, Raven nods, and heads out the door leading to the orphanage. She mutters something before opening the door, and when it opens, there is a faint flicker of light.
Nyata stays there for another hour before wrapping up, putting the files away. She walks to the door and says “the shop” before opening the door, revealing the back room of Anything. She steps through, closing the door behind her.

He lies in his bed, awake, for hours, staring at the wall. Eventually he falls asleep, but his dreams are troubled, even if he cannot remember them well the next morning, and his sleep is filled with tossing and turning. When he wakes up at five in the morning, he cannot get back to sleep, and watches the ceiling. He stays there when the sun rises and illuminates the dormatory with fresh orange light, and he stays there when the children start getting up and make for breakfast, his eyes focussed on one spot on the ceiling.

*Aber shouts up at the top bed.*
Oy, Wid! Breakfast, you hungry?

He stares up at the ceiling.
No.
But he gets out of his bed anyway.

*Abel grins at him.*
Dude, you look like shit. Did you sleep at all last night?

He glares at Aber.
At least I don't look like my mother screwed a lizard.

*Instead of getting angry, Aber throws back his head in laughter.*
That's a new one. No ones tried that one before. Dragon, not lizard, incase you were curious. C'mon, they're serving breakfast.

He raises an eyebrow.
I hope the pay was decent.
Starts walking towards the dining hall- which is easy considering everybody is going there.

The dining hall is a large room with rows of tables and benches. At each place is what looks like an upside down bowl on a plate. Aber sits down, motioning for Widifor to sit next to him. The other seats around them are filling up quickly.*

He sits down, grumbling at the other children.
Little damn Modrons.
He turns the bowl back upside up.

*Aber grins at him.*
You're gonna want to order something, first.
*He looks at his bowl.*
Ham and cheese omlette, please.
*He turns it over, and on the plate, where the bowl was, sits a ham and cheese omlette, steaming. He digs in hungerly. Across the table from them sit down a tiefling and a skittish looking kobold, both girls. The kobold speaks first.*
H-h-h-hey, Aber. W-w-who's the new kid?
*Aber motions towards Widifor*
Kyliki, Skirt, meet Widifor. He's not staying long, though. Widifor, meet Kyliki and Skirt.
*The Teifling smiles and waves at the name Kyliki, and Skirt jumps at the mention of her name, shaking like a small, hyperactive dog.*
