He catches the look and looks at her for a moment, which clearly says that if it's too much, he can cut some from the price.

She looks down at the things, obviously a bit- well, almost ashamed.

He looks at her for a moment, and smiled reassuringly.
"It doesn't matter."

She looks back up and shrugs.
No, guess not.
She picks up the things, leaving the money on the counter.
Thanks, see you.
She turns around.

He raised an eyebrow.
"Good-bye."
He sighed and dissapeared into the back, having much to think about.

Elfhame mutters as he casts a quick glance over a long scroll, rolls it up and hands it to an apprenticed mage in return for a few coins. As soon as the customer has left, he puts up the 'closed' sign and sighs. He's tired, and it clearly shows. He dissapears to his study, a frown set on his face.

He closed the shop down and teleported to the inn, tired of working.

He appeared in the inn. The dust got to him, he hadn't been here in weeks. He sighed, opened the door and then the windows and dissapeared into the library.

Elfhame frowned as he channeled power into the instrument before him. The wand, about nine inches long, was smooth and rounded metal, elaborately designed. As well that he had found it. If it were not for it, he would have gone mad merely moths ago. He could not have made a recovery without it - well, at least not without doing some indirect harm.
Something was wrong however. He could not put his finger on it, and it irked him. He had to put more effort into channeling. That was it.
He could not tell what went wrong, but it did. A loud bang, metal brushing his cheek and arms. A force that knocked him in his chest and lifted him off his feet.
A moment later, he gathered himself from the ground. He groaned. The wand was shattered, he knew as much without looking. He touched his cheek, and felt blood. Casting a glance over his arm, he found red streaks carefully carved there. He groaned again. Now he had to find something else to channel into, and finding that wand had taken him long enough. He shook his head, and teleported to the inn.

*Jean walks up to the shop and looks in through the window. The place looks like it was closed... well, she would check it later. She moved on, heading to a different shop.*

A small parcel arrives for Elfhame, wrapped in thin brown paper with a cheap red ribbon, his name written on it in small irregular letters.

He throws the doors to the shop open, and then puts the book near the open window sill. Taking a parchment, some ink and a quill, he sits there reading the book, taking note. He wants to see how this works...

Eventually, he looks into another spell. It's not much, but it's effect is interesting to say to the least. He needs a component though, a small plant common in any forest. Looking through some of the Scrollrack's stashes, he knowns he doesn't have. Shrugging, he closes the shop and teleports to the woods to look. It should be easy to find.

The Scrollrack - as per usual, the shop lies abandoned. Where it was a shack before, the outside of the shop is now literally a ruin - the glass smashed, the sign blown away, the door half-battered down. Its owner hasn't bothered to return in months, nearly a year. However, whatever landlord owns the ground has left the shop standing. After all, gold is gold.
Not for long though. From the library, a single flame spreads outwards. Quite soon, it consumes the entire shop, the heat cracking whatever glass remained, smoke rising from the gaps, holes and hinges in the wallls. Come morning, it is literally gone in the wake of the fire. The charred wood and ash are the only things that remain.

Over the course of the next day, some guards poke around the ruin, and a few firemages inspect the neighbouring houses for damages. They are reasonably alright, though their owners will have to make some repairs here and there. The guards interview the neighbours, who neither heard nor saw anything, and by that afternoon the officials are gone, the case has already been closed, and by five the landlord arrives with a signboard on his shoulder, which he hammers into the blackened foundations, unconcerned by the remains of brick and timber. "For Rent/Sale" it reads. The landlord puts his hands in his pockets and swings by the Bazaar for porkchops on his way home.
