He sits down, frowns, takes a bite and growls.
Sit down already.

She sat down, still eating.

He finishes his food in silence and walks to the window. He looks out over the rainy, dark street, which is abandoned, then turns around and looks thoughtfully at the portrait of the woman.

After she was done eating she put her plate silently on the table and watched Ephen watching the picture. Idly she tried to read his thoughts to further determine his mood.

His thoughts are strangely calm- they quietly go from that woman's face to her voice, to her in a nice red dress in summer, to another obvious memory, one of walking down the park here with a young child in his arms. Underlying is a feeling of sadness and anger.

A child? She did not see much evidence of another Elf in the house. It must have died too. Wondering idly who or what he was angry with, she got up and walked over to the man, putting a hand on his arm.
Are you alright?

He looks at her in some confusion at first, as if he'd forgotten she was even there, then shrugs her hand off.
I'm fine.

She put her hand to her side, and looked at Ephen.
You didn't look it.
She ran her hand through her hair, twirling a lock around her finger.

He shrugs and sits on the couch, gets up again, quickly does the dishes, goes and sits down again. His thoughts are racing now, and hard to make sense of.

She sat down, watching him. Whatever was eating him, was something old; she got a distinct feeling of time elapsed. She pulled up her legs under her. If he was that unhappy with his life, she could help him out.

He sighs. His thoughts race, slow down, pass the woman and the child, then a young adult with black hair in a pony tail, and eventually a pair of grey mirroring eyes, the feeling of being trapped, of helplessness. He shakes his head and turns at her.
Cup of tea?

Yes please!
She smiled brightly. Grey eyes...how was this man connected to him? A wild guess said it had something to do with that young man. In time, she would find out, perhaps. Not now, antagonising him would be a very bad mistake.

He nods, gets up again, walks to the kitchen and makes them both a quick cup of tea.
Milk, honey, sugar?

She got up and walked after to him to the kitchen, then stepped aside to avoid bumping into him.
Milk please!

He puts milk in her tea and hands it to her before sitting down with his own plain one.
