(Mellinore walked briskly through the streets, not stopping unless hailed by the guards.
He reaches the gates and the guards wave him through with a warning that there are one or two unsavoury gates in the area.
He thanks them and passes through, soon afterwards casting spells to enable him to move swiftly, unseen and unheard.)

She strolls unhuriedly through the streets. She should be heading back, she's got class to teach soon, but for now she feels more comfortable outside, rethinking the conversation of the other day. It's going to hurt either way, marriage or no. He said he'd not leave her, or their child. Why not go through with it? She frowns a bit, and goes back to the Centre.

His cloak sweeping majestically behind him, he makes his way home, smiling as he sees the immaculately clean house appear in front of him.

Mecrinus finds the places he was looking for. External examinations are all he can afford time for today.
One place looks overrun in the garden, and has a deserted air. A second has a battered look about it. The third, while empty and again overrun in the garden, was relatively solid. He took a note of the property name and sighed; the most expensive of them. He ws not sure how to raise the 100,000 jink.
He turned and left the area, heading for Elysium.

~Her pace is thoughtfully slow and the staff taps on the cobbles of the road, but at last the woman reaches the gates. She nods slowly and respectfully at the gate guards, who glance her over and, seeing no weapon, wave her through. One of them taps his helmet to her in greeting.
Istoreth walks on in her own pace. She does not appear to heed any of the houses in the lanes she passes through. Her staff taps on the stones, the rain pours down upon her. Some grey strands of hair stick to her cheek or stick out from under the hood of the poncho. The poncho itself seems to be pretty water-proof, as does the carpet bag.
At one crossroads, the woman stands still. She raises her sad eyes up from the road and looks around her. The hood slides a bit back and exposes more of her grey hair, which gets soaked within seconds. Huge drips slide over her face. A man hurries past, then a woman with a dog. They don't heed the lost figure on the crossroads. Finally a soldier comes marching past, his armour shiny wet. He stops and looks at her. She is still looking around her in a slow confused fashion, so he taps her politely on the shoulder.~
"Pardon me, madam. Can I help you?"
~She turns to him and tilts her head slightly.~
Yes, thank you. Can you point me to the nearest flower shop, please?
~The soldier smiles and nods.~
"Sure. If you take this road here...
~He points to the left.~
"Follow that, and then when you get to the brick chapel take another left, and then the second on the right and you'll pass under another gate. That will take you into the Central City section. If you take a left turn there, go right at Munninah's Coffee Corner, straight on until you reach a t-intersection. There should be a flowershop there, not far from the Academy and All Souls Church."
~The woman nods quietly.~
Thank you.
~Her voice is quiet and whistful, and the soldier's mouth twitches uncomfortably. He looks up at the pouring water.~
"Weather's awful, ma'am. No time to be out if you don't have to be."
~She nods, and continues on her way. The staff taps on the cobbles and the man stands there a bit helpless for a moment, but then he shrugs and continues on his way. It is raining for him, too. Istoreth continues on her way.~

"Well it isn't any of your business anyway. And keep that ugly thing away from me before it slobbers all over my best shoes."
Ivren laughs and kneels to pet the bull dog that followed him after one of his walks through the richer sections. As usual, he is wearing stained trousers, a brown leather jacket, and now a big straw hat against the sun. His boots are grey with dry mud and his elbows are patched. He does not look particularly fancy. He looks like a huntsman, a ruffian, a beggar.
His sister, walking beside him, looks inpeccable, as usual. She has braided her hair with a red ribbon, and she wears a rather revealing silk dress with a deep decolleté and splits on both legs that go up all the way to the hips. Broad bracelets on both wrists tinkle with many little bells. She gives the ugly dog a disapproving glare.
"What do you want with all those stupid animals, anyway?"
Ivren shrugs.
"I like 'em. They're better than Humans."
It is a quiet day, and it is too warm in the middle of the day for there to be many people around anyway. Most of the Asphodelian inhabitants are at work, or having their siestas. This, and the early hours of the morning when all are asleep, are the only relatively safe times for Elves to be out and about anymore. It is sad, but there it is.
"I'm bored."
Tinnu has complained a lot these last weeks. What with the political situation in Eluria getting worse and worse, she can hardly show herself out in the city anymore. For Ivren, woodsman that he is, it is no problem. He is just fine out in the woods, or even on the roof of their little apartment. But Tinnu, the Bard, is used to crowds, bars, attention. She has not been in a bar for many months now, and she has been fired from her job at the Friends of the Queen. She kicks a pebble from the street, wishing furiously they would meet a cute Elf, or perhaps the guy she met at Chika's, over a year ago now. He was good.
"I know, Tin. Nothing we could do, we been over this. It'll pass."
Tinnu nods and shrugs, and watches him pet the dog, meow at a cat, lure a pidgeon down from a tree with little dove-coos. It'll pass, it'll pass. They would have moved elsewhere by now if they'd had any clue where to go. An Elven settlement, perhaps, but the problem is that most of those are so horribly old-fashioned and stiff. It's too bad she hasn't asked his name, after all. Now she can't ask anyone about him. Maybe the waiters at Chika's know. But from what she saw he wouldn't be interested in a girl who chases after. Not very dignified. She stares longingly at the sky.

"I can get ya to bash roun' a little more, if ya willin' to pay the music cutter." A fairly tall young lad said as he stepped out from behind one of the trees set in their regular little rows here and there.

Ivren raises an eyebrow at the boy.
"That won't be-"
"Yes please!" Tinnu interrupts her brother emphatically.
Ivren sighs. "How much would this 'bashing' be... cutter?"

Ivren frowns. "That is a lot of money for two out-of-work Elves, kid. And we're not about to agree to an unknown favour. Sides I'd like to know where exactly this place-"
"Oh don't be such a bore." Tinnu flies forward, all smiles and glittery eyes. "I have seventy jink, will that do?"

"Yeah su-"
"Absolutely not." Ivren grabs Tinnu unceremoniously by the scruff of the neck and pulls her back "We can't afford twohundred jink, we won't afford twohundred jink, and we're not agreeing to favours up front. What kind of place are we talking about, kid?"
Tinnu glares at her brother and pulls herself loose.

Sieg grumbles a bit, running a hand over the eyepatch. "Ya ain't playing chess with Graz'zt here, cutter. I like paying customers, not ones who ain't gonna keep the jink flowin'. I got a place where ya can give the guard the mazes and have a good time while ya at it. Or do ya wanna stay out here?"

Ivren blinks. "Was that even Common?"
"Sheesh, fuck a duck. I'm in on the payment plan." She flutters over to Sieg.
Ivren rolls his eyes.
