In a rather busy street, near the tiny primary school, is a small house, very much like the others on the black except for the beauty of the front garden. Roses and hydrangeas in all colours are blooming enthusiastically, there is even a short tree. There is no fence, you walk directly into the garden and up to the red front door of the house.
There is the number twelve painted in black letters on the door, and under it in a curly script it reads Mornar. The house has a ground floor, a first floor, and a red roof, as all the houses on this black have.
Inside is no hallway, you step directly into the livingroom. A soft couch and one comfortable arm chair, a low table. Closeby is a small bookcase with a few books in it- mostly study books and a tome or two of fairy tales. A soft white rug on the floor. In the far corner, a wooden table with four chairs. There is a door going into the backyard, a mirror of the front garden, just slightly bigger, having two trees and a fence around it.
From the living room is a door into the kitchen, which is just big enough to fit three people, but only one if they actually want to prepare dinner. This is partly due to the fact that the stairs going up are in here.
Upstairs are three bedrooms, each with a single bed and a closet in them. One of them also has a desk with a chair, while the other two both have a box and shelves for toys. There is also a tiny bathroom up here.
This house belongs to Eskel Mornar, a young student and Seeker in the local library, and his inhabited by him and his two much younger siblings.

Eskel and his siblings walk down the street, until they reach the house. He is by this time sweating and pale with exhaustion. Narwain blinks as they stop in front of number 12.
... This is it..?
Eskel takes a moment or two to catch his breath and simply nods. Narwain grins.
Wow...
We're going to live here?
Yeah..!
Eskel smiles and takes the key from his pocket, walks into the garden and opens the door. Tired as they are, Narwain and Lotheg storm into the house. He smiles, walks back to the street, and pulls the trolley through the garden and the front door. As he closes the door, he can hear them dashing upstairs to claim their bedrooms.

He leans against the door post. What's taking her so long? He told her exactly where it was- she couldn't be lost, could she? He sighs and walks from the door to the street, looks up and down the street, walks back. He's done this about fifteen times this past half hour. From upstairs he can hear Lotheg singing to herself, and he knows Narwain is in the living room, playing with Chedar. Those kids are settling in fine.
He finished making the pancakes ages ago. He kept them on the table with a spell to keep them warm. But she hadn't come, so the children had insisted they eat them anyway. They had- the two of them. Eskel hadn't had a single pancake.
Where is she? It was today, wasn't it? They would meet she should be here where is she..? He kicks the door post. What if she's changed her mind? He doesn't know a damn thing about her, what if she quits her job? He won't have a clue where to find her. Drow- she's Drow, what kind of Elf trusts a Drow..?
He leans his head against the post, growls and bangs it against the wall. Idiot. How can he think that? She's not- she's not like that, she's- different, and- He growls again. Perhaps- freaking idiot! Why didn't he think about that before? What if Tharn didn't let her go? That's logical, that's so damned logical- Gods he's such a stupid idiot, he should have thought about that before! He turns and pokes his head into the house.
Wain, hey! I'm going for a bit, don't go anywhere, don't open up to strangers, take care of Loth, I'm back in an hour or so. If Taerlin comes while I'm away, give her a drink and tell her to wait.
Sure.
He grabs the keys to the house from the coat rack by the door and pulls the door shut behind him. He races through the front garden without so much as noticing the beautiful roses. He runs through the streets in the direction of the city centre.

Eskel leads Taerlin back to number 12, unlocks the door, and shows her into the living room. Narwain, about to give them a cheery welcome, notices their faces and slinks off. Eskel puts Taerlin on the couch and goes to get her a glass of water.
Here you go. Drink up.

*Taerlin takes the drink thankfully, managing a weak smile - one that is much better than nothing.*
Thank you, Eskel. I really don't want to impose.

Don't be silly, I love you, you're not imposing.
He gives her a concerned look.

He takes the glass from her and puts it on the table, then he embraces her, pulls her onto his lap, and holds her the way he no doubt is used to comforting his little sister, holding her, his cheek resting on her head as he rocks her, just a bit.

*she holds onto him for a bit longer, her eyes drying a bit, and the stress of everything crashes down. Barely murmering "i love you," she falls asleep.*

He catches her, kisses her forehead, and carries her to his bed. For the next few days, he tries to be home as often as possible. He arranges the funeral, goes to school and work, but he's home whenever he can be. He attends her closely, usually sleeping in the chair by her bed, and waits upon her every need.

He sits in the chair by the bed and watches her sleep. She looks so very quiet and peaceful, breathing quietly, regularly. Almost as if nothing is wrong. He sighs, and wonders what is going on with him. Running and slaving all day- oh, that's normal, but the way he feels isn't. How can he feel this way for someone he hardly knows? He sighs. She hasn't told him too much about herself. He knows next to nothing about her. She's beautiful- she's kind- and she's very, very fragile at the moment. He slides a bit closer, to the edge of his chair, and runs his finger over her face- very close to her, but he's not really ever touching her. She's beautiful... He so runs his hand all over her hair, her face, her throat- he hesitates when it floats over the edge of the blanket, and doesn't take it any lower. Even though he wouldn't touch, he dares not. He pulls his hand back and thinks. He gets up, walks to the window. The room looks out over the backyard. He can see his brother and sister playing down there, laughing and dancing. They love this place, the rooms, the garden with the roses and trees. The sun on the trees makes them seem to be glowing green, the colours are terribly bright out there. He rests his forehead against the glass. The silence in here- he can see the children laughing, crying to each other, he can see the bird in the tree- but he cannot hear them. Behind him, he knows she is in the bed, asleep as though she were sick- and not a waking soul for him to talk to. He feels lonely, and closes his eyes a moment. When he looks up again, he looks at the sky.
[Sindar] ...I'm failing you.
He swallows as if there was something stuck in his throat as he looks down at the children. They need protection- he knows what has to be done. He struggles against dizziness as he finds his chair again, and leans back, watching Taerlin. It scares him- so- so very much. The pain that will come with it. If he succeeds, he'll have helped wipe out a race. Does that make him evil? It has to be done, but if it's evil, he will not have a pleasant afterlife. He closes his eyes a moment. If only he could be sure the children were provided for... He sighs, opens them again, watches Taerlin as she sleeps. She's so beautiful. He bows his head. He wishes Lord Lunaria would just call him- let him do his duty and be done with it. Gods willing, it will be fast and not hurt too much...

*She streches, slowly opening her eyes and looking at Eskel sleepily. She had improved in recent days, and was less prone to random tears, and even smiled, occasionally. She gives Eskel one of those smiles.*
"You get the bed tonight, love."

He smiles back, weakly.
And give up my comfortable chair? You should be so lucky.
