The man laughed. He brought up his hand and hit the door, hard. The door splintered slightly, and quaked fiercly. "Make me, little one."

Themis grumbles.
"You know, for most people I would stand here and talk and talk to make them see my way of things, or at least to acquaint them with such. I consider myself one of the better speakers in the small department that I am currently scheduled under, not so much because I can convince people as because I can outtalk pretty much anyone I have ever met. Even if I do not convince them of my views, in other words, I always manage to explain my views and have a stimulating discussion, most the time, with those of other convictions or belief systems from myself. You, however, I do not consider to have either the patience or, frankly, the intelligence to support such a discussion, and therefore I am sorry to say that I will have to dispose of you some other way. Ding?"
She looks around for her friend.

Toris opens the door, his expression serene, and greets the uglier of the two Athar.
"A beautiful door, isn't it?"
He turns toward Themis and proceeds to ignore the distasteful man.
"Hello. Toris is my name."
---
Devis makes his way quickly toward the nearest guard station-- and, barring that, to the nearest patrol.

"I'm called Themis." the Gnome nods at Toris. "Pleased to meet you. I hope you realise this piece of practical Power joke doesn't represent the Athar, and that you are welcome to close the door on him, call the guard, or beat him to the ground yourself, whichever strikes your fancy."

"Thank you, ma'am. The Guard should be here momentarily."

The man looks from one to the other, smiling. Finally, with a shake of his head and a wild shout, he slammed his hand into the wall next to the now open door. It was mostly unimpressive, yet the man seemed satisified. "Let them come."
He turned and walked away, flashing a grin at Themis. "The fun part about when you die is that you won't have a Power to cry to. Makes me wonder what you will cry to." Then he continues down the street.

Elsewhere, Devis quickly finds a guard outpost. They look up from the game of cards, five soldiers all told. One is a woman who looks up and sneers at him, another a man with bright red hair who ignores him and seems to be looking at the hand of the woman. The other three have helms on. One of the three helmed men grabs his halberd and stands. "What brings you to the guard outpost, citizen?"

Toris watches the man leave, his expression blank.
---------
Devis:
"Ah. Good question. I was sent by the owner of the Willow store. Trouble outside. I left before anything terrible happened, but, by now..."

The Gnome chuckles. "Flip a fork."
She nods at Toris. "Sorry about that. Please don't hold this against the Athar. We try to keep guys like him out, but sometimes they slip in anyway. Have a good day." She turns to walk away.

Toris begins to let her leave, no longer paying much attention. He jumps slightly with sudden recall.
"Wait, ma'am. Please. The Guardsmen should be here soon, and I'll need your help describing the man."
This isn't true-- Toris can recall the ugly man's every feature perfectly-- but it's close enough not to bother the elf.

The little woman glances around, smiling.
"Love to stay, friend, but the guard don't tend to like my kind much. Triphosa's troublemakers, they say."
However, she does not walk away any further. She stands and watches Toris with a small grin and a mischievous look in her eyes.

"Ok, citizen. Lead us to it." The guard said simply. The others groaned and picked up their things. "I'll come with you, and these grunts will be there soon. Lead on."

Devis leads the guard back to the store, taking him around the block to the front door.

The guard stops once they arrive, looking the area over and apparently thinking. He frowns at the gnome, but doesn't seem to jump to conclusions. "There doesn't seem to be a disturbance here."

The gnome points in the direction the troublemaker went.
"He left when Mr Toris informed him you were on your way, officer. It was an extremely ugly man with one leg and a few mutilated fingers. He pretended to be an Athar."

Toris says nothing, but gestures at the marks on the door.
