Several entrances lead to the sewers. There are several on the streets of the slums, as well as at least one in the Twilight Inn. Even more are found all throughout the city. Most of these entrances are rusted metal grates. Some are cleaner, depending on the section.
The sewers themselves are vast tunnels that lie under much of the city. The walls of the sewers are composed of dark, slimy bricks. Rivers of sludge or water either run down the center of tunnels or take up all available space, often leaving no dry paths.
Few people ever venture into the sewers and even fewer leave. It is not certain what the real danger is, but most likely those who did not return either got lost or killed by people or worse things lurking in the shadows.
The only people in the sewers are criminals and occultists. The former will only kill you, usually. There is no limit to what the latter will do to a hapless traveller.
The denizens of the sewers can't all be classified as people, however.
