[Rumerin]

Specifically about characters on this board, what funny odd interesting important lovely things should we know? Give a funny IC or OoC anecdote, or give a character sketch of your character. What are they like? I'll start you off.

Did you know that...

.... Rumerin originally the hero was in a story? You think of him as a bad guy now, but Rumerin was the prince of a thousand-and-one-nights sort of country, who later became a famous sultan, Rumerin the Great, in a story I wrote when I was about fifteen. He was a very considerate, kind person.

In terms of the Rumerin of Eluria, Rumerin isn't his real name (you had all figured that one out, I bet). To merge both storylines, I decided the Fiend took the name of this famous sultan from an ancient story. The name of the hero, because Rumerin the Fiend does have a sense of nicely twisted humour.

[The Dementist]

Oooh, this is fun! Great idea!

...This is something like Xealaz's sixth incarnation, and I don't mean the multiple times he's died. He started off as a hero of a story I created when I was a little kid, then became a planeswalker/dementist in Terisia, then just a normal dementist, then god only knows what in the evil forum, then actually ruled Nessus in a hell based forum, then came here and became the Xealaz as y'all know him now.

...Taerlin was orginally going to be a background character, who was going to die to move Tarot's and Chessa's story along. Yea, that really worked out the way I had planned

[Catriona]

... "Catriona" is the name of a book by Robert Louis Stevenson? I needed a name for my account at Wizards, and I had just read that book and rather liked it. Besides it's a form of Catherine, my name.

I like Robert Louis Stevenson lots. "Kidnapped" and "Catriona" are his Scottish novels, and they are really interesting to read.

When I later made a character upon visiting Terisia, I kept the same name because I felt a character with a different name from the account name would be confusing. And so the Elf became Catriona. Her shortname, Trink, was of my making.

I only made up her full history later. I named her brother Auberon after the King of the Fairies, or King of the Elves, in English folk tradition. His shortname, Oren, sounded like a good short for Auberon, and it is also the Dutch for "ears", an appropriate nickname considering the prevailing family trait, which the Trevains inherited from the heroine in one of my stories.

[Kaitan]

... I got the name 'Kaitan' (as far as I can recall) from Kaitain, the name of the capital world in the Dune books. The Dune books are great... the original ones are arguably better, but those written by the original author's son are also good. It became my username for several forums.

When I joined Terisia, I, like Cat, used my username for my character. At the time, Kaitan was a rather boring human white spellcaster/fighter from Benalia, later becoming part vampire and part angel, and eventually evolving into what you see now, an aasimar vampire with a complete history. Kaitan is a rather complex character because of the slow way he developed and because of my inexpert role-playing early on.

The Twilight Order was going to be a thread in Terisia, but I posted it here first (I think.) I've left it mostly inactive... I'd better make it active once more.

[Thanqol]

Thanqol was a skaven Grey Seer from Warhammer. I copied the name because I loved the minor villain, but now he's become a major character and I was rather dissapointed in that.

When I joined Terisia, Messyness Major occured. I didn't use my username for my character, but all the people on one thread called me "Thanqol" anyway. Since the Thanqol on that thread was developing in a different path then the "Elwin" in the city, I shrugged and split them into two. Thanqol ended up outliving Elwin. He, like Kaitan originaly, was a product of inexpert RPing at the start, and flavour only came in later. And then I realized I didn't have anything to build flavor on. So I ended up killing him to open paths for my newer characters.
