*she didn't quite catch the movement, though she was watching for it. Neat trick.
She walks along with him, keeping close, and asking questions now and again, making sure she doesn't sound too clueless. In the meanwhile she starts to try memorising the way they've been going.*
Sounds good. What's that inn like?

It has a sign proclaiming it as the Red Dawn.* "It's not bad... if you're broke. Not the best place for food or service, but it ain't the worst by far."

*she shrugs.*
I've seen some pretty bad ones. Was that the inn we were going to?

Ah. How expensive?
*and how to make money here? she wonders if there's any kind of Thieves' Guild here, and waits for a later time before she asks.*

Thanks. I'll just have to see then.
*they walk on, with her asking some more about how the city's set up, but mostly just letting him do the talking.*

I'll just have to see then. *they walk on, with her asking some more about how the city's set up, but mostly just letting him do the talking.* *He talks about the different Wards, telling her about each one and then goes on to the Factions. When he finishes with all of that, he goes on to the Lady.* "This is important: If you see a floating woman with blades in her head, whatever you do, do not do anything with or about her. Don't talk about her too much, either."

Oh? Alright, I won't. Why?
*she tries to remember what he's telling her about the city and the factions.*
Don't believe in gods? Yrch, they're there, how can you not?

"Because she will do worse than kill you if you do anything wrong." *The man chuckles and grins* "Not that they don't believe they are there... they don't believe those things parading around are Gods. They think them powerful beings, but not Gods. If you hear someone calling something a Power, it is what you would call a God."

Like that. Thanks, I won't.
.o0(Sounds like Naneth.)
*she shakes her head to get the thought out.*
I see. Stupid.
Can you show me the other Wards?

"That's what you're paying me for... ah, you're welcome. I'm tired of all this 'tough guy' blex." *The man shrugs* "Their beliefs, not mine. Careful what you say about beliefs around this place, by the way. Also, you will probably be approached by one Faction or another at some time if you stay here long enough or visit frequently. Sure. Follow me." *He leads them on to the Lower Ward*

I'll see when they come, then.
*she follows him to the Lower Ward, thinking. Staying here? Why not? Nice and far away.*

He made his way through the ward, ensuring he was not followed as usual. Just as with the palming of the message, he took care that these things, routine as they were, did not become automatic and done by rote.
Reaching his lodgings he cracked the note and read it. So, the deal was on.
He laid back a while, planning.

He rested, then arose for the new day. Time to act.
He composed a message to Hollian, instructing them to meet him in 24 hours at the usual place, and sealed it.
Gathering the gear he had with him he left his lodgings and headed out, following a route through the market ward that he is fairly familiar with. Pausing in front of a clock tower he waited.
The clock struck the hour, and he walked forward, down the alley by the side of the clock tower, and turned into a small doorway.
There is no noise of a door opening or closing, but he never came out.
