Not your fault, Mellinore.

*she sits up straight and looks at Mellinore.*
Don't give me that. What happened, happened. And it's not like the subject could be avoided for ever.

(He looked back at her.)
"I know. And there probably was not a good time to raise it. Still and all, I upset your mood.
Howeever, it's still a nice evening, so lets sit and enjoy the sunshine while we can."

*she smiles warmly at Mellinore.*
Nah, it's alright. I'm in too good a mood anyway.
*she leans back again, just enjoying the scenery and the company.*

*She takes a clean handkerchief from her bag and summons a whole heap of strawberries on it, for everyone to take as many as they like. No matter how many you take, the heap does not seem to grow any less. Tirith attacks them with great enthusiasm*

(He smiled back at Julia, cast a spell to bring a large bunch of strawberries to himself and another to Julia, then stretched out on the grass and soaked in the sunshine.)

*He eats a whole lot of strawberries and kisses his mother on her forehead as she lies back in the grass. He then walks over to Mellinore and sits down by him*
Did you kill many orcs?
*He thinks for a while*
Why do people have to fight? Why did Gil-galad go to Moria? And where is that? If people know they're going to die, why do they go anyway?

If people know they're going to die, why do they go anyway? (He sits up, and thinks a minute.) "I have killed orcs, yes. But not many. GilGalad went to Mordor to fight a very evil person who wanted to cover the land with darkness. Gil-Galad wanted to be able to see the sun and the stars, like the Gods intended us to. He and Elendil, a King of Men, fought to stop the evil one. They did not know when they were going to die. But they knew they might. They went anyway, so that even if they died, other people - like you and I - can be warmed by the sun, and see the stars at night. I have never been to Mordor, and do not know where it is. Maybe some other people do."

Oh- Mordor, right...
*He thinks a moment*
Why did he want that? This evil person- didn't he like the stars? Did they beat him?
*Shakes his head*
Why would you want to die for other people? That doesn't make sense- does it? And some even know... Nana told me a story about people who knew, and went on anyway. Why did they do that? That's just silly...

(He looke down at Tirith and smiled." The evil person - well, I dont know really, He might have been afraid of the light. The stories say that he did mean and nasty things, and he did them in secret. The thing about that is, in the light of day you can see just how mean and nasty he is. So really, he hated the light - the light of the sun, the moon and the stars. As for going on knowing you will die, there can be a lot of reasons. It is never easy to say why. In the end though, it is about love. About being willing to give up something for yourself, so other people can have it, or something even better."

*He thinks a bit, then shakes his head*
I don't understand that. The light is good, it's nice. I don't like the dark...
*Climbs on Mellinore's lap*
Now that is weird. So you have to love other people better than yourself and the stars? Why? What have they ever done for you? I'm sure you wouldn't ever do something so silly. Nor nana either.
