Ah, but that is the side you are looking from.
*He nods*
Yes, that is true. Than again, they would have died in a pointless war anyways, which is also the reason for the lack of trust, which was the reason for a very large number of patrols, which was the reason for the death of one lover and the grief of another, which brought about even more tragedy. The fault is not in one pair of hands, I'm afraid.
*He laughs and grins*
She's a terrible liar.
My name is Satorius, by the way.
*He chuckles again*
Decided to come along? The company is welcome. Yes, I did know before I married her. She told me everything that happened.

They might not have. Hard to say now.
I am Aman Kaliant.
We won't attack you if there's someone from the city with you.
What did she tell you?
He walks along with Satorius. His last question's more curious than judging towards Catriona.

A pleasure to meet you, Aman. Thank you, I would much rather prefer not to be attacked.
.o0(Even if I am not particularly frightened by any such attack.)
*He smiles*
Everything.
*He talks at length about what happened from her side, telling of the Drow and the things that went wrong from there*

Aman listens in silence. There's many things in Satorius' story that haven't come out at the trial after the invasion, or that have been twisted to serve as justification for Catriona's banning. He stays silent after the man's done, brooding over it all, trying to make sense out of it. Even so, he's staying alert to his surroundings.

*Satorius glances at the boy. Best to let him think about it, for now. He had other things to attend to...
He cast another spell as he walked, to get an idea of the people. When he recieved the information he needed, he entertained the thought of walking in as one of them, if only in appearance. He should probably go on as what he is now, just to show he is an outsider in this conflict, a very neutral party. He shrugs. Oh well, in the end it will not matter. Might as well go as he is now.*

He frowns. Things suddenly don't seem as sure as they had been before. If they hadn't told everything about her, then who was to say they'd told the truth about the Human cities? Still, he's loath to admit even to himself he's afraid to actually go there, though his curiosity far outweighs his fear.

The woods go on for hours and hours. It will take about four or five long days to reach the edge of the forest near the Path of Steel, the Tink-TarĂ¡k as it is called by the Elves. It is a narrow pass between the woods and the black mountain peeks of the Wagadrun in the distance. Coming from the north, they are at the eastern side of the peeks, and far, far, far into the distance they may be able to make out a river, another four or five days away. The valley spreading out before them looks hazy, the horizon shimmering slightly in these last days of summer.

*Satorius walks on towards the river, taking his time as he was sure there were border guards.*
Do you know any Common?

There are no signs of border guards yet... But the land is very, very silent.

He looks around him. Too silent, he doesn't like it.
I do.
With a heavy Elven-accent:
[Common]See? I know. Not all, but it's not taught. I teached myself.

*Satorius walks on, not particularly concerned. His eyes, however, take in everything in the area as he listens.*
Not bad at all. A very good start, especially for teaching yourself. You will probably increase your vocabulary and grammar as we travel these lands. Oh, it would be said "I taught myself."

[Common]Thank you. Nobody teaches it.[/]
Those very high in autority might know it, depends on how much they talk to one of the other cities.

*He nods, not terribly surprised.*
You're welcome. You know, the first thing needed for peace is the ability to communicate...?
*He chuckles. The ones in charge were too blind, too paranoid to truly listen to anyone... and he remembered Trink's warning full well.*
I'm surprised they speak with anyone at all, considering their "shoot first ask questions later" attitude towards non-Elves.

Yes, but sometimes they talk to the others. I don't know why.
He looks around him. So silent. He frowns. No guards here? Impossible, there should be some.
We don't trade much with them, after all.

I'm not surprised, really.
*Satorius smiles at the thoughts. Careful, isn't he? Not unlike himself, really. He reached out with his mind to find traces of other thoughts in the area.*
